Imagine the kid next door who randomly disappears, talking about “wanting to see the world or something” only to come back telling stories so mundane and weird you wonder if he left at all. Now imagine that but ten times less glamorous.
That’s me.
Think of this blog as my personal/public diary, which maybe is a weird way to describe it. Read if you dare, I guess. As David Sedaris says, “If you read someone else’s diary, you get what you deserve.”
I write about life, its quirks, its jokes, its ups and downs. For the past three years, I wrote about taking care of my aging parents since that’s all I basically did then. That time is over though, so I’m back to writing about everything else. This all assumes that I’m not too lazy to write in the first place.
Rock on, and hope you enjoy the ride.
Other things about me:
I’ve had two short stories (Evangeline, The Tomb Sweepers) published in the mostly-comic-collection Gwan Anthology, an anthology with themes of foreign lands, the immigrant experience, and cultural fusion.
I did a short graduate stint in Journalism at Northwestern University and the Financial Times in their Hong Kong office.
I did the tech start-up thing, going from tiny company to massive explosion in my six years in Seattle.
I used to want to be a teacher. Then I lived overseas and taught English in China. (Most) Teachers deserve better.
I live in the San Francisco Bay Area.
I’m a proud son, little brother, and uncle to the two best nephews in all the universes.
